We arrived on Dec.31. When we returned from groceries, we noticed that all the pots/pans were rusty or scratched and all the knives rusty. Then we noticed cockroaches. There were leftover condiments that had developed mold. Only one cutting board with mold on one side.
There are frogs loudly chirping at night - this was omitted in the property description! The soundproof is inadequate.
We called property management. They said nothing could be done until the next day. Whoever we spoke to was not very helpful nor professional.
To their credit, someone came the next morning to bring new pots/pans/knives and traps for roaches. Still, this is an overall very bad experience that I would never want to repeat. Clearly the unit is not well maintained/cleaned.
Also, the bed is small and uncomfortable. I could go on, but you get the idea.

Regarding your concerns about cookware and knives, once this was brought to our attention, our team promptly replaced the items the very next morning. While normal wear can occur over time, we take these matters seriously and acted as quickly as possible given the timing of your call on New Year’s Eve.
Hawaiʻi is a tropical environment, and despite routine professional pest control, occasional insects or geckos can be present, particularly during wetter periods. This is disclosed in our house rules and is a reality throughout the islands. Traps were also provided immediately upon request.
Leftover condiments are occasionally left behind by prior guests; however, guests are always welcome to discard any items they are uncomfortable using, and we will review this with our housekeeping team to ensure closer inspection going forward.
With respect to ambient noise, the property is located in Hawaiʻi’s natural environment, where frogs and other wildlife are common, especially at night. Sound sensitivity can vary by guest, but the home’s construction and furnishings are consistent with the property’s listing and neighborhood.
We are disappointed to hear your comments regarding our staff, as professionalism and responsiveness are core values of our company. While certain issues could not be addressed immediately due to the holiday evening, our team did follow up and resolved what was reasonably possible the next morning.
We regret that this home was not the right fit for your preferences and wish you the best in your future travels.

This rental was amazing. The management was very nice and checked in multiple times to make sure we had no questions or concerns. The rental itself was very clean and had all of the amenities mentioned available. Location is great and just a short walk to get to shops and restaurants around the area.

When we first arrived and opened the 3 sliding doors to the closet, they all fell off their rails. They are tall and heavy. After much struggle I was able to get them back on. Also, the bedroom lamp switch is also a hazard. I would have replaced it if I had some tools. I told your rep about it when he called to check on us. Overall we had a wonderful time! The location was great! The condo was clean and the amenities were great! The price was also very reasonable for all that you get!

Upon my arrival, the property was on the first level and the parking was right in front of the property. Easy access to get in as, I followed the instructions from the owner who emailed me. The property was small but doable. It was four of us. The couch was a pulled out which was perfect for my two little ones. I was in heaven when I saw there was a washer and dryer. The owner provided a lot of accessories especially beach chairs, beach toys, and etc. The kitchen was just perfect where it provided everything. Our view from the beach was just beautiful when the sunset was showing. Walking distance to a lot of cool places like the beach, little market, ABC Store, and etc. The lady upstairs was nice. The only con I would say when your walking around inside the property you can hear your footsteps so, it feels like we are being loud even though we aren’t but you can hear the people upstairs when they’re walking around. Other than that the place was Amazing. They do have a A/C unit which keeps the place nice and cool. The pool is a walking distance but eh we needed the walk and they also provide a grill as well. The owner would check on us here and there to see how was our stay or if we needed anything else through a text. I recommend this place to give it a shot.

The condo was very nice and clean. We enjoyed the indoor space. The complex itself had issues. The water was shut off on Monday during our stay. There was a plumbing company there all day making a lot of noise. The rest of the week we felt we were staying in a construction zone. It was very loud in our unit all day. The pool area was very basic very little landscaping. It felt more like a community pool. We would not plan on staying there in the future.

The location was perfect. It was just a short walk to town. It’s peaceful and not noisy. The apartment was located on the first floor and the designated parking was right around the corner. There was no problem getting around town. I would highly recommend renting the apartment. I always enjoy visiting the Big Island.

It was a great location just above the town. 4 minute drive. The place had everything we needed to cook some fish we caught, beach chairs, beach towels. The washer and dryer were great for us. We will be back again.

We really loved this rental. We went for 5 days with our two kids and had the best time. The rental even has beach chairs and boogie boards! Everything was insanely clean. Zero sand anywhere. I thought that was so crazy haha the lock on the door is super nice and the rental company responds very quickly. We also thought the location of the rental was perfect. So close to downtown and really easy to get in and out on all’I drive. 10/10 would recommend staying here!

the condition of the property is far below what was advertised and does not meet basic standards of hygiene, safety, or comfort.
The listing explicitly states that the property provides a full kitchen. However, upon arrival, we discovered that nearly all kitchen items are unusable. The knives are rusty, the pots are heavily scratched, and the pans are either rusty or badly scratched as well. In addition, the chopping board is visibly mouldy, which raises serious health concerns.
More concerning, we have encountered a significant cockroach problem in the unit. This is completely unacceptable for any accommodation, especially one booked through a premium brand such as Marriott. The management company offered to provide insect spray, which does not resolve the issue and does not address the underlying sanitation problem.
In addition, the soundproofing of the unit is extremely poor. Despite the building having a clearly stated quiet-hours policy, we can still hear external noises such as cars passing by or frogs croaking late into the night, making it difficult to rest.
We immediately contacted the property management company for assistance. Aside from offering empty apologies, they are unable to provide a meaningful solution. Their only proposals were to bring replacement pans and spray for the cockroaches, neither of which adequately resolved the situation; in addition, they said they could not do anything before the next day. They ultimately advised us to leave the property and find alternative accommodation ourselves. Given the holiday season, this was highly impractical and not a reasonable or helpful solution.
To their credit, they brought new pans and knives the next day. They also brought traps for insects.
However the underlying issues were not resolved - there were hygiene concerns in the unit.

We’re sorry this guest felt dissatisfied, though we respectfully disagree with several characterizations in this review.
Upon being notified of the concerns, our team responded promptly and professionally. Replacement kitchen items (including pans and knives) were delivered, and pest-control traps were provided the very next day. These are standard, appropriate remedies and are consistent with industry best practices. The chopping board and kitchenware were inspected and addressed immediately once brought to our attention.
Regarding pests and exterior noise: the property is located in Hawaiʻi, where occasional insects and natural outdoor sounds (such as frogs and passing traffic) are common and clearly disclosed. The unit is serviced regularly by professional pest control and was not found to be infested. As with most condominiums, sound transmission and exterior noise are outside the control of the property manager and not indicative of a hygiene or safety issue.
When the guest indicated they were unhappy despite corrective actions being taken, The guest chose to remain for the duration of their stay after remedies were provided.
We stand by the condition of the home, the accuracy of the listing, and the responsiveness of our team. While we aim to ensure every guest has a positive experience, this property may not be a good fit for travelers seeking hotel-style isolation or a sterile, insect-free environment that is not realistic in a tropical setting.
