If you want to take in some real surfing, Magic Sands Beach is 13 mins away. Also, take a short trip to arguably one of the best spots in all of the Hawaiian Islands, Kealakekua Bay (16 mins away). One can kayak next to spinner dolphins most days of the week there. Historic Two-Step Beach is 22 mins away w/ its magnificent black rock coral entry where you drop in & snorkel with the most colorful fish within seconds of being in the water.

The house was fine and posted to AirBnB but the overall experience was more complicated requiring a contract to be reviewed as if i we’re renting it for months. The pictures gave us all greater expectations than the actual experience staying at the house. Broken bathroom door, non operacional light switches and musty smelling in some rooms. I wrote a review on the AirBnB site and now I’m asked for another review. Overall the house id overpriced for the amenities. The survey does not have enough options and has my location incorrect. Not accurate. I’m not from Irving, NA.

Our rental agreement is standard for short-term vacation rentals in Hawai‘i and is in place to ensure clarity, compliance, and protection for all parties—it’s not intended to create friction, but we understand it can feel more detailed than expected.
We also appreciate you bringing the maintenance items to our attention. The bathroom door, light switches, and any musty odors are not reflective of our standards, and we’ve already shared this with our team to ensure these items are addressed promptly.
Regarding pricing and expectations, we do our best to represent each property as accurately as possible through photos and descriptions, while also aligning rates with current market conditions. That said, we always value feedback like yours as it helps us improve both presentation and guest experience.
As for the review requests and location details, those are generated directly through the platform and unfortunately outside of our control—but we understand how that can be frustrating.

The home had ample space to spread out and was clean with comfortable beds and furniture. Plenty of towels, including beach towels, extra bedding and blankets, too. Great to have beach paraphernalia available (chairs, boogie board, mat, umbrella, snorkel, coolers). The decks were nice with furniture and BBQ worked well. It was helpful to have the outside shower, even with hot water!The location was very convenient for going on manta ray and other snorkel trips, as well as farther south to snorkel and explore. The property managers were excellent with communication. They alerted us that the dishwasher needed replacing and were actually able to install a new one on a Saturday as we were moving in. We very much enjoyed our stay. Mahalo.

Photographs can be doctored, but this view is truly spectacular. The photo doesn't even begin to show the beauty of the sunset. Enjoy a serene dinner on the deck of this spacious home. The location was very convenient, close to anything you might need. The host was very responsive & established good communication to ensure that we were comfortable & satisfied.

The downstairs unit smells moldy, with visible mold in the washer. The smell was unbearable, and alternative arrangements had to be made for those sleeping downstairs. This issue is known, as an air filter is available, although the filter in the machine was filthy. Furthermore, moisture-wicking products were in the closet. Be aware anyone with a respiratory issue will be affected!

We appreciate you pointing out the condition of the air filter and the moisture-wicking products—these were meant as proactive measures, but clearly, they fell short. We’ve already scheduled a deep cleaning of the unit, including the washer, and will be replacing or professionally servicing the air filter system immediately. We’re also addressing the underlying moisture issues to ensure this doesn’t recur.

We were very fortunate to be able to schedule a mini-family reunion with two of our sons and their families at Halekii Sunset in mid-June. The property was perfect and easily accommodated 5 adults and four children. We enjoyed the sunsets and views of the ocean as well as the nature sounds of the birds and coqui frogs. The children appreciated the yard space as well as the supply of beach toys! The kitchen had all the necessary dishes and cookware necessary to make meals, as well as a blender for pina coladas! The each of the three bathrooms included bath products and a hair dryer, a good thing since we had a teenager with us, and the littles loved the outdoor shower. The property manager was extremely communicative and quickly responded to our questions. We would definitely recommend Halekii Sunset to families looking for a quiet neighborhood for their Hawaii experience.

Plenty of space for 10 people to get together but also for you to slip away alone somewhere to recharge. I will always treasure the time spent in the mornings watching the sunrise, drinking coffee, and discussing life with my loved ones--the location and views are amazing.

We had a great time in Hawaii and the place worked well for us. The separate apartment below was great for a couple. Some details could be improved through maintenance such as the outside painted decking was crumbling in places and the gutter on the roof overflowed over the door in heavy rain. However the bbq was great to use and overall we really enjoyed the stay

We thoroughly enjoyed staying at this property. We were a large group and it had room for everyone. Loved the views and location. Only ding would be that one of the listed "queen beds" is not a queen bed but is a pull-out sofa sleeper.

We had a wonderful stay at this location. We were 2 families with 5 young children. The house was very comfortable and had everything we needed. There's a great park with a small playground a very short walk away. You can also go for a little bit longer a walk to the main street for breakfast. We liked the location and didn't mind being a bit out of Kona, there was still a lot around. There was a giant avocado tree in the backyard and we really enjoyed them. The abundance of porch was awesome too. Perfectly positioned for the sunset.
